Joan Miró i Ferrà (Barcellona, 20 aprile 1893 – Palma di Maiorca, 25 dicembre 1983) è stato un pittore, scultore e ceramista spagnolo, esponente del surrealismo.
Attirato dalla comunità artistica che si riuniva a Montparnasse, nel 1920 si stabilì a Parigi, dove conobbe Picasso e il circolo dadaista di Tristan Tzara. Già in questo periodo, in cui disegnava nell’accademia La Grande Chaumière, cominciò a delinearsi il suo stile decisamente originale, influenzato inizialmente dai dadaisti ma in seguito portato verso l’astrazione per l’influsso di poeti e scrittori surrealisti. In età avanzata Miró accelerò il suo lavoro, creando ad esempio centinaia di ceramiche. Si dedicò pure a pitture su vetro per esposizione. Negli ultimi anni di vita Miró concepì le sue idee più radicali, interessandosi della scultura gassosa e della pittura quadridimensionale.
